The White Label Sega Dreamcast

White Labels (WL), pre-production White GD-Roms, were discs provided to journalists or used in demonstration kiosks for stores in Europe. They were distributed without jacket or leaflet with some exceptions, I will come back to this below.
They can be distinguished by their white color with the title name in blue (silver in rare cases), the publisher's name below the title and the mention "Sample Only Nor for Re-Sale" in all languages on the sides of the disc. Other indications can appear as the language and the phase of development at the time of its production. They are often identical to the marketed version except for a few exceptions where it is written "Beta", "Trial", "Demo", "Video" or "Master". Each game has a unique code written at the bottom of the disc, such as "950 0016-50". It is among other things this code which identifies the White Label of "Sega Extreme Sports Milka".
Between 200 and 500 copies were produced for each title. This figure has never been proven, in my opinion it all depends on the publisher and the game (maybe more, maybe less).

There are listings for 162 existing white discs. Some titles like "Monaco Grand Prix Simulation 2", have never been found to date (Edit, found after publication of my article). Games like "Suzuki Alstare Racing" were recently discovered. We believe that white discs never came out of publishers' offices.

The Dreamcast has a special feature that no other machine has in its line of promotional games. There are canceled games officially released only in this format as well as editions of games designed for special events.

Promotion of the title had started, the game was at over 90% of its development. The announcement of the end of production on the Dreamcast will get the better of him. The WL contains only one video of the game.

MSR Opel Challenge (download it here) :
It's a particular version of Metropolis Street Racer, a sort of demo featuring Opel's car, the Speedster also known as the Vauxhall VX 220 in the UK.
F1 World Grand Prix Redbull Demo (download it here) :
This White Label still remains an enigma. Redbull Uk does not know for what circumstance it was produced (I will relaunch them). Only 2 copies are in the hands of collectors who displayed themselves with it.
Sega Extreme Sports Milka (download it here) :
This White Label was used during a competition in Germany by a chocolate manufacturer. Different prizes were possible to win including a Dreamcast limited "Milka". It came in a demo form.
The Acclaim company supplied their white GD-Roms in a small black box. It contained a notice and was dressed in a jacket where the bar code was replaced by the words "PROMO ONLY NOT FOR RESALE". They are called the "Acclaim Cases". She definitely liked to complicate her life since "Revolt" was loose and "Shadowman" in an Acclaim Case with a record identical to the commercial version.
